EICMA 2021: Yamaha celebrates Rossi with R1 GYTR VR46 tribute bike among friends and fans

































































































































































Last Thursday, three-time world champion Valentino Rossi celebrated “One more round” with the right people from EICMA 2021 and Yamaha.

The Japanese motorcycle maker took Rossi onto the stage aboard a Yamaha M1 (adorned with a 60th anniversary drawing), after which Yamaha also discovered a limited edition GYTR VR46 Yamaha R1 for the Italian legend – both a commemoration of the beloved VR46 Academy racer, and also a tribute to the man’s 26 years with Yamaha.

As if the bloody bike set wasn’t enough perk, CarAndBike also tells us that the limited edition R1 GYTR VR46 is home to “Genuine Yamaha Technology Racing Spec Parts”. This includes a chic carbon fiber body in a special livery created by Aldo Drudi, of Drudi Performance – a friend of Rossi’s, as well as his former helmet designer.

The R1 GYTR VR46 also sports a subframe made of the same material as the fairings for light handling, as well as a 22-liter gas tank backed by Ohlins suspension, Brembo brakes and a nifty REX 140 Marelli. ECU ‘for better power delivered. ‘

Other features include “GYTR has developed a Marchesini wheelset, Akrapovic exhaust, front brake protector, handlebar set, air funnel set, cylinder head gasket, slip clutch, electronic throttle and more” according to Motogp official website.

Suzuki Ecstar team duo Joan Mir and Alex Rins, along with Aprilia Racing teammates Aleix Espargaro and Maverick Viñales, celebrated with him for the event. Luca Marini and Marco Bezzecchi of the VR46 Racing Team were also present, rounding off the celebration of the talented Italian’s career beautifully.
