MILWAUKEE – Let the games begin! Head to the Near West Side neighborhood in Milwaukee for a fun scavenger hunt while exploring landmarks, historic sites, and a few hidden gems.
The Near West Side occupies a large area. It encompasses the Marquette University campus and extends to the Harley Davidson offices.
The scavenger hunt is organized by Near West Side Partners, a non-profit organization designed to promote and defend the neighborhood. The purpose of the scavenger hunt is to get people to explore the neighborhood and support local businesses.
“Specifically, the Near West Side on every corner, on every block, is history. There is culture. There are great assets. We want people to check this out, ”said Keith Stanley, executive director of Near West Side Partners.
To play, download the Goose Hunt app on your phone, then search for Near West Side, and once you’re done you can start the scavenger hunt. Once you get to the building or landmark, take a photo or mark your location to verify you’ve done so. In the end, those who have been to the most places will win Near West Side swag and restaurant gift cards.
“Get out there and still enjoy the sights and sounds of the Near West Side and the smells. But also being able to do it without having to worry about having to be around a lot of people, ”said Stanley.
The treasure hunt lasts from September 17 at noon to September 18 at 6 p.m. There will also be a Tom and Jerry film screening from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Merrill Park, 435 N. 35th St.
