Brawn GP finished 1-2 in its first-ever Formula 1 race.

Brawn GP showed unimaginable pace in the first half of the season with their ‘blown diffuser’ car, which was a clever interpretation of the 2009 regulations, and won 8 races with 7 of the wins for Jenson Button. But without funding to further develop the car, other teams started to catch up with Brawn and in the second half of the season Red Bull proved to be the fastest car. However, the initial success of the season still helped Brawn GP win the Constructors’ Championship, with Jenson Button being crowned the 2009 Formula 1 Drivers’ Champion. The team – in its lone season in Formula 1 – did the unthinkable , then it transformed into the Mercedes-AMG Formula 1 team in 2010, which went on to win 8 consecutive constructors’ championships between 2014 and 2021, an unprecedented feat.
