2022 marks the 30th anniversary of Honda’s famous Fireblade series and the brand celebrates with a special edition CBR1000RR-R SP. The new year not only marks the anniversary of the Fireblade, it is also the 100th anniversary of the Belgian Spa circuit. To commemorate the occasion, Team Red is releasing another Limited Edition Fireblade.
The Belgian track day and event organization DG Sports will build the Honda CBR1000RR-R Spa 100 as a track weapon only. In 2022, the new Fireblade retains its 215-horsepower inline-four, diamond-coated aluminum frame and aerodynamic body, but gains mid-range power, cornering stability and corner-exit speed.
The Spa 100 Edition will feature all the new upgrades, but the team at DG Sports will be removing the Honda from its road-approved mirrors, ABS and turn signals. From there, renowned racing bike specialist Mario Kupper will equip the CBR1000RR-R with adjustable rear sets and new clips for a more aggressive riding position.
The Showa BPF front end of the Fireblade will get additional support from the Ãhlins 43mm fork cartridges while an Ãhlins TTX rear shock completes the chassis. An Ãhlins steering damper stabilizes the platform while a Brembo Corsa Corta front master cylinder and new steel braided brake lines deliver racing-worthy stopping power.
Kupper will also equip the liquid-cooled 998cc inline-four with a new HRC engine management system and a loom. An Arrow exhaust will help the fire-breathing Fireblade lose weight and gain power and the sticky Dunlop slicks maximize the track potential of the CBR1000RR-R Spa 100. Of course, protection is also essential on the track and a new one. Handbrake guards and GBRacing motor guards are suitable for the circuit.
Of course, DG Sports improvements will make the Fireblade a more powerful track tool, but it will also make it a more expensive bike. Fortunately, customers won’t have to spend more on a special livery, but with the standard CBR1000RR-R SP priced at $ 28,500, we’re sure the Spa 100 Edition will add a significant markup to the MSRP.
