Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) is likely to roll out the entry-level CBR150R sportbike in the country. The company has filed a patent for the motorcycle, indicating that the motorcycle may soon arrive in the country. When launched, the CBR150R would prove to be a rival to the Yamaha R15 V4.

On the outside, the CBR150R features fairly clean and aerodynamic body panels. Its exterior design is inspired by the larger CBR motorcycles in the company’s lineup.

The front of the bike gets dual LED headlights and LED DRLs. Other than that, other key features of the sports bike include a compact windshield, sporty mirrors, wide and low handlebars, fully digital instrument console, sculpted fuel tank, upswept exhaust and raised seats. The bike also gets a USD front fork in the gold color which adds to its sporty appeal.

In terms of exterior color options, it comes in a range of colors such as Victory Black Red, Honda Racing Red, Dominator Matte Black, Candy Scintillate Red and MotoGP Edition. However, the features and colors may also be different for the Indian spec model.

It will be powered by a liquid-cooled 149cc single-cylinder engine capable of producing 16.09hp at 9,000rpm and 13.7Nm at 7,000rpm. The engine will come with a 6-speed gearbox that has a slipper and assist clutch. For braking, the bike uses a single disc at each end, combined with ABS and the Emergency Stop Signal (ESS).

The growing preference for performance-oriented entry-level bikes in the country probably caused the maker of Activa to make the decision to reconsider the bike for the Indian market.
