Honda to launch NX200 adventure bike?

Honda could be rolling out a Honda NX200 adventure bike based on Honda Hornet. Here are the details!

Honda has just registered a trademark for the name, “NX200”, which suggests the arrival of a small capacity double “NX” sports bike. Sources speculate that the Honda NX200 small-capacity adventure bike will be based on the Honda Hornet 2.0 and that the model is expected to launch in India before going into other markets.

Speaking of motorcycles, the new Honda NX200 is expected to be powered by the same 184.4cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine found in the Hornet 2.0. Mated to a 5-speed gearbox, the NX200 should push around 17.26 ps of peak power and 16.1 Nm of peak torque.

In the case of the suspension, the NX200 would likely come equipped with long-travel suspension, sculpted adventure-style seats, and large handlebars. In addition to this, the model is expected to incorporate features such as full LED lighting, adjustable windshield, single-channel ABS and an LCD dashboard. Sources believe the NX200 will also come with metal spoked wheels and a 2-channel ABS option.

Looking at the trend, it is evident that the interest in small capacity dual purpose / adventure motorcycles continues to grow in Asia. In fact, over the past few years we have seen several motorcycle manufacturers from the east and west come together to develop small capacity adventure bikes to meet consumer demand. The idea of Honda using an already existing platform to create a new small-capacity adventure motorcycle seems like a good deal. As of yet, we can’t say much about the bike or the exact details of the launch. However, judging by the latest registered trademark, we think the Honda NX200 will likely launch by 2022. Well, only time will tell.
