John Porter Obituary (2021) – Marion, IN

John Richard Porter, 50, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Marion General Hospital following a long illness.

He was born on October 4, 1971 in Marion, Indiana, son of Allen Porter and Patricia Porter-Pickup. Prior to his illness, he was employed at State Plating and Markee Products. He loved working on cars, spending time on his computer, and he loved animals. John was also an avid collector of Harley Davidson memorabilia. He was a caring and loving person who would do whatever he could to help anyone at all times.

He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his parents; one daughter, Kelsey; grandchildren, Maci and Carly; one sister, Kim (Roy) Oakes; brothers, James (Jennifer) Bush and Brian Bush; several nieces and nephews and extended family; and the love of his life, Bobbi Knight.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, Chester and Betty Porter and Ed and Opal Darnell; and her stepfather, John Pickup.

The family would like to give special thanks to JC Porter, Pastor Bruce Koontz, Pastor Matthew Castle, the Baptist Friendship Church, faithful friends and especially the intensive care nurses at General Hospital Marion and Laura Saunders for Life Stream.

Visitations will be held from 12:00 p.m. (noon) to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at the Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Matthew Castle officiating. Interment will follow funeral services at Park Cemetery, Fairmount, Indiana.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Marion-Grant County Humane Society, 505 S. Miller Avenue, Marion, Indiana 46953.
