Bennetts British Superbike series leader Brad Ray clinched pole position at Knockhill this lunchtime despite just six laps yesterday but was pushed hard by Yamaha teammate Jason O’Halloran.

The Rich OMG man clocked a 47.131 second lap to claim first place in Scotland with jockey McAMS just 0.005 seconds behind. Lee Jackson was third, a quarter of a second behind.

A frenetic second session began with Ray instantly leaving eBay pit lane for a time attack, and he did not disappoint as he topped the times for the Rich Energy OMG Racing Yamaha team.

Lee Jackson held second place for the Cheshire Moldings FS-3 Kawasaki team, but O’Halloran was on the attack, missing by the narrowest of margins at the checkered flag for McAMS Yamaha. That pushed Jackson into third as he earned his first No. 1 qualifying start of the season.

Danny Buchan leads the second row for BMW ahead of Rory Skinner, he was another rider to crash during the session on second in the Cheshire Moldings FS-3 Kawasakis. Kyle Ryde completes the second row, pushing Glenn Irwin down to seventh.

Christian Iddon finished eighth for the Buildbase Suzuki team with Tommy Bridewell and Josh Brookes rounding out the top ten.

It was a disaster for second MCAMS Yamaha as defending champion Tarran Mackenzie crashed out at the first corner during Q1.
