The calendar dates for next season’s FIM MotoGP World Championship have been provisionally published by Dorna.
2022 will take place over 21 weekends starting, as always, with the preseason testing and the inaugural weekend of action at the Losail International Circuit in Qatar, Doha, and ending in the traditional final in Valence.
Indonesia will host Round Two, at the new Mandalika Street International Circuit on the island of Lombok, with Argentines Termas de Rio Honda and COTA back in their usual April slots for round three and four.
Portimao, now a fixture on the MotoGP calendar after stepping in as a savior in 2020, will close the April action, while Jerez, Le Mans and Mugello will kick off the European stage as usual, in may.
Finland are once again planning their championship debut, this time starting in mid-July, with Silverstone moving in early rather than late August.
The traditional return of the year-end flyaway, although now as two double heads with a week in between, rather than the last, and painful triple. With Phillip Island holding a somewhat controversial date earlier in October – rather than the requested move in March – that won’t do much to improve the winter conditions encountered on recent visits.
As with the current current situation, all dates and events, as well as the attendance of spectators, are subject to the evolution of the pandemic and the approval of the corresponding governments and authorities.
