MXGB Foxhill: “I knew not to do anything stupid” – Searle

It was another fantastic performance from Crendon Fastrack Honda’s Tommy Searle at round two of the British Championship at Foxhill where he won a race and extended his championship lead.

After his double victory at the opening Culham round, Searle took a third and then a victory to take second place overall on the fast and dusty Wiltshire Valley track. So out of the four motos this year, Searle won three and had just one third place to start his title defense in incredible form.

The opening round saw Searle, 32, start from tenth place and then he worked hard to pass the riders in front of him. Taking off one at a time, he worked up to the third and was within striking distance of the second when the flag went out. In the second race, he was only in the mood to win. Using the power of his Honda CRF450R, he got off to a great start and quickly took the lead.

Searle was then trailed to the flag by his title rival from last year, Harri Kullas. But in a perfectly timed charge late in the race, Searle broke away to take a safe and calculated victory.

“Another good day for me and the Crendon Fastrack Honda team.” said Searle. “In the first race, I got off to a bad start and finished tenth on a difficult track. So I was happy with my ride through the peloton.

“In race two I got a much better start and then passed Ashton Dickinson to take the lead on the first lap. With the toughness of the track I knew not to do anything stupid – just put your head down. The track was tricky and could catch you but with three laps to go I had some left in the tank. Harri was pushing but I made sure of the win.
