The FIM X-Trial World Championship will take place in Madrid on Saturday 2 April. The Spanish capital will again host a world championship trial after ten years of absence and will see the presence of the two Repsol Honda Trial Team riders, Toni Bou and Gabriel Marcelli.
After a ten-year hiatus, the FIM X-Trial World Championship returns to Madrid with an unbeaten Toni Bou taking top honors at the first two events in Nice and Chalon-sur-Saône. Bou currently leads the world championship standings with a 13-point advantage over the rider closest to second place.
The Repsol Honda squad will once again be represented in full, with Gabriel Marcelli lined up alongside the outgoing champion for the Madrid Arena event, as he aims to find the right feeling after his nervy World Championship debut at the weekend last.
Since 2008, Toni Bou has won consecutive victories in the last five editions of the X-Trial Madrid. Gabriel Marcelli, meanwhile, will make his debut in front of fans in the Spanish capital having previously competed in Bilbao, Granada and Barcelona in 2019 and 2020.
The Madrid Arena will also debut as the venue for an X-Trial event, with previous events having taken place at the Palacio de Deportes. The contest starts at 8:00 p.m.
“We arrive in Madrid this weekend after a great victory in France where we saw that it is important to always be vigilant because the slightest mistake can make the difference because there are so few differences between competitors and n anyone can create a surprise.” Bou said.
“I’m sure the Madrid crowd will be behind us as they always have, and even more so after such a long time without hosting an X-Trial event. We hope to put on a great show for them.
