Returning after a two-year absence, the 2022 Art of Speed Kustom & Counter Culture auto and bike show opened its doors today to much fanfare. Crowds thronged to the main entrance of the Malaysian Agro Exposition Park, Serdang (MAEPS) exhibition hall in Serdang, Selangor, with the highlight of today’s proceedings the launch of the 2022 Harley-Davidson Nightster 975 at the Harley-Davidson booth.
In addition to the custom cars and motorcycles on display for the Show and Shine contest, visitors to this year’s Art of Speed are eligible to enter a raffle. Prizes from previous years include the twin-engine RXZ TwinBoss and “Mizuki, a classic Suzuki Hayabusa-powered Mini Cooper.
For this year, the raffle prize is a vintage electric-powered Vespa scooter, modified by Elders Garage of Indonesia. Taking the body of an authentic 1970s Vespa, Elders Garage installed a plug-and-play package including a 3kW electric motor, 72V 24Ah lithium-ion battery, modified swingarm and control unit Elettrico Square Wave 80a, which comes with Bluetooth connectivity to the driver’s smartphone.
From the specs provided, this electric Vespa stay-mod takes five hours to go to a full charge from zero, using household current. Top speed is governed to a maximum of 80 km/h, with around 60 to 75 km of range available in Eco mode.
