Wait for this Honda Xpulse rival! » MotorOctane

Last year Hero released the Xpulse 200 4V, improving many aspects of the older bike. As a product, Xpulse has no direct rival in India. What is special about the Xpulse? The Xpulse can go off-road and also serve as a regular commuter. Honda, however, can ruffle that monopoly. How? The Japanese two-wheeler pioneer has one particular bike in its global portfolio that can directly compete with the Hero Xpulse. In today’s article we will talk about this Honda Xpulse rival.

What is that?

As mentioned above, Honda already has a bike similar to the Xpulse in its global portfolio. The bike we are talking about is the CRF190L. Any chance Honda will bring it to India? Earlier this year, Honda filed the patent for the CRF190L in India. Currently, Honda only sells it in the Chinese market. With a patent already filed, there is definitely a chance that the brand will evaluate it for the country. Moreover, the affordable off-road two-wheeler has attracted customers, whose credit can be attributed to the Hero Xpulse and its previous generation Impulse.

What Does the Honda CRF190L Get?

Now that we know the CRF190L, let’s talk more about its design and specs. The CRF 190L takes up the Honda DNA of the Africa Twin and Transalp adventure motorcycles. Up front, we have a vertical one-piece headlight with a small windshield. Other than that, we have straight handlebars and an integrated passenger grab bar. It gets a one-piece seat, with the footrests in the middle. What about suspensions? The bike gets a tubular steel cradle and telescopic suspension.

Speaking of powertrain, there are plans to borrow it from the Hornet 2.0 and CB200X. That means an air-cooled 184cc single-cylinder engine could power this entry-level ADV capable of producing 17bhp and 16.1Nm of torque. The gearbox should be the same 5-speed manual unit.

As mentioned above, the Xpulse 200 has no competition in its segment. If Honda can bring the CRF190L to India, it could spice up the competition in this segment. When it comes to pricing, Honda might not be looking to undercut the Xpulse, however, it would mostly be looking to outshine the Xpulse in refinement and reliability.
