Wojcik EWC team P5 very well – FIM EWC

P5 very good for the Wojcik EWC team

Fortunes were mixed, but plenty of celebration after Wójcik Racing Team scored a fine top five finish at the 24H SPA EWC Motos last weekend.

Bálint Kovács, Dan Linfoot, Sheridan Morais and teamed up to bring the Polish team’s #77 Yamaha home to fifth in the second round of the 2022 FIM Endurance World Championship.

Aside from the 2019 Bol d’Or and 2020 12h Estoril podiums, the result in Belgium is Wójcik Racing Team’s best to date in EWC.

However, while Wójcik Racing Team’s Formula EWC effort had a fine finish, it was a frustrating event for the team’s #777 Superstock effort. Starting from pole position in the category, much was expected of Kevin Manfredi, Marek Szkopek and Danny Webb. Unfortunately, a series of four crashes ruled out a top 10 finish.

Nevertheless, the Wójcik Racing Team could take a lot of positives from the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps.

“Finishing fifth in such a difficult and extreme race is a huge success for the whole team,” said team principal Grzegorz Wójcik. “Team 77 got it right from start to finish and both bikes ran flawlessly despite the no. 777 Yamaha needs a major rebuild after one of the crashes, so hats off to all the mechanics as well.

“Although it was an unlucky race for our Superstock, we had the pace to at least fight for the podium again. We can’t wait to build on our momentum at the Suzuka 8 Hours in August.
