The incident took place early on May 26. “Sheikh roped up his 17-year-old friend and started looking for a Yamaha R15 motorbike… They started looking for the motorbike in Byculla around 1am on May 26. After 4am they found an R 15 parked in Matunga in front of the Marubai temple near the Don Bosco school,” an officer said.

“With the help of the bike they were riding, they towed the stolen bike to Byculla and parked it near BTT chawl.” When the complainant in the case, Pradeep Nadar, found that his bicycle was missing, he lodged a complaint at Matunga police station, following which a case was registered.
As police began to scan CCTV footage from the area, officers identified the minor and recovered him. “The minor revealed the identity of the sheikh, after which he was found and arrested,” the officer said.
During his interrogation, Sheikh told police that he wanted to be a social media influencer and would upload videos of him performing stunts on Instagram to get more followers. “As he did not have a bicycle of his own and his accomplice (minor) had recently been offered an R 15 by his father, he decided to steal the same for himself,” the officer said.
Sheikh was brought before the Kurla court on Wednesday, which took him into custody.
