Youngstown motorcycle ride in honor of Ohioan killed in Kabul

The Memorial Ride, sponsored by Youngstown Harley-Davidson, will raise awareness and fund the Maxton Soviak Memorial Fund.

YOUNGSTOWN – A commemorative motorcycle ride will be held Sunday in honor of Maxton Soviak, a member of the Ohio Navy who was killed while supporting evacuation operations in Kabul, Afghanistan.

Soviak, from Berlin Heights, was one of 13 soldiers killed in the August 26 attacks outside Kabul airport.

The memorial ride, sponsored by Youngstown Harley-Davidson, will raise awareness and fund the new Maxton Soviak Memorial Fund.

The Maxton Soviak Memorial Bike Run will start at Youngstown Harley-Davidson, 5700 Patriot Blvd. Registrations will open on site at 9 a.m., the start of the ride at 2 p.m.

Biker Brewhouse will provide breakfast for all riders. Registration is $ 20 per bike and $ 10 per

additional rider. A 50/50 design will also be available at the event. All the benefits of the event

will go directly to the Maxton Soviak Memorial Fund.

“While there really is no action we can take to fully repay Maxton and his family for their sacrifice, we hope this event will provide a little show of support and comfort to the family and let them know that they’re not alone, ”Tom Orlando, general sales manager for Youngstown Harley-Davidson, said in a press release.
