Over the past year, many FishHawk residents were surprised, shocked and entertained by the character, who goes by the name of Zippy MiniMoto, roaming the area on a small motorbike. Zippy brought many much-needed smiles during the pandemic to the FishHawk community.
Zippy’s last sighting was last December as The Grinch. The Grinch worked very hard and rode for many hours, bringing smiles and excitement to the community. The Grinch felt he needed an extended vacation by the pool, so he contacted The Clown.
“Zippy the Clown walked around the FishHawk community last year and he made people laugh and scared a few people too,” Zippy said. “The Grinch asked Zippy the Clown to come back on his vacation by the pool to an undisclosed location.”
For those of you unfamiliar with Zippy, he’s a retired Navy aviator, husband and father. He started riding motorcycles while in college and has always loved it.
“The recent pandemic has found us all with a lot of free time,” Zippy said. “I rode motorcycles when I was in college, then I got married and things changed, but since I needed something to do to occupy myself during the pandemic, I bought a motorcycle. and I restored it. “
The mini bike that Zippy rode last year was named “Rosie” by his daughter.
“This year I have a new bike,” Zippy said. “I had it made because I need a more powerful but still small bike.” Zippy worked with Vintage Honda Minis Restorations in Winter Springs. “Josh Eule is a great guy who helped me a lot in building the new bike, which is a Honda Monkey.”
Zippy has received a lot of comments on its Facebook page from the residents of FishHawk.
“They said the Grinch had to look more Floridian, so a wonderful seamstress from the FishHawk community offered to make the Grinch more Florida-friendly clothing for his extended vacation,” Zippy said. “The FishHawk community has been wonderful for The Clown and The Grinch.”
Zippy the Clown will start making an appearance from October.
“The Clown will post on Zippy’s Facebook page the dates and times when they roam the FishHawk neighborhoods,” Zippy said. “Much like The Grinch last year, The Clown is asking residents not to pursue him or attempt to approach him as his safety and that of the residents is his priority.”
